Houston SEO for companies that sell on expertise, not price.
Energy services, the medical center, port logistics — Houston search is B2B, technical, and long-cycle. Winning it takes pages that speak to engineers and procurement teams, not tourist listicles.
Built for how Houston searches.
Industrial B2B content
Capability pages, spec answers, and case studies written for the engineers who search long before procurement calls you.
Local pack across 10 counties
Business Profile, reviews, and service-area strategy for a metro that sprawls from Katy to Baytown.
Freight-cycle timing
Port-of-Houston logistics queries spike with shipping seasons — we publish the pages that catch them early.
Fifty miles of Houston, and no two stretches of it search the same way.
The ten-county metro added 126,720 people between 2024 and 2025, more than any other metro in the country, and its Ship Channel moves more tonnage than any other U.S. waterway. Baytown to Katy is 52 straight-line miles, and along it the buyer changes six times: a freight desk, a maintenance planner, an office manager, a practice administrator, a project engineer, a homeowner. One content plan cannot serve all six, so the first decision is which stretch you actually sell to.
123456“hose supplier ship channel”A counter-and-stock page: what is on the shelf, hours, pickup.
“turnaround scaffolding contractor”A capability page with sizes, materials, crew counts and past scopes.
“commercial cleaning downtown”Service pages with response times and the buildings already served.
“biomedical equipment repair”Pages that state turnaround, coverage hours and equipment makes.
“scada integrator houston”Spec answers and project sheets an engineer can forward.
“roof repair near me”The map pack: profile, reviews, one honest service-area page.

Greater Houston counts 7,251 manufacturing establishments, 10,756 wholesalers and 26,263 professional and technical firms (Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Facts 2026). Very little of what they sell is bought on impulse. An engineer meets a symptom, turns it into a spec, builds a shortlist, and hands it to procurement.
Read it like a log. Each formation is a stage of the purchase, each stage has its own searches, and a vendor with no page at that depth is not in the core sample. Most industrial sites here have one layer — a home page and a contact form — and wonder why the phone only rings from people who already knew them.
What we build: one page per formation for each capability you sell, written from your engineers' own answers and measured in Search Console by the searches it starts to hold.
“why mechanical seals fail”
“24 hour pump repair houston”
“[your competitor] alternative”
“[your company] capabilities”
“[your company] phone”
DEPTHS ARE A FIGURE OF SPEECH; THE ORDER IS NOT. SAMPLE SEARCHES ARE ILLUSTRATIVE — YOURS COME FROM SEARCH CONSOLE AND FROM THE QUESTIONS YOUR INSIDE SALES DESK ALREADY ANSWERS. ESTABLISHMENT COUNTS: HOUSTON MSA, Q4 2025.
SCHEMATIC. EACH PLACE SITS AT ITS TRUE DIRECTION AND STRAIGHT-LINE MILES FROM DOWNTOWN (THE GRAY NUMBER); MED CENTER, UPTOWN AND ENERGY CORRIDOR ARE APPROXIMATE CENTERS. LOOP 610 AND THE GRAND PARKWAY ARE DRAWN AS CIRCLES WHOSE RADIUS IS THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT'S LENGTH ÷ 2π; BELTWAY 8 IS DRAWN BETWEEN THEM AT ITS APPROXIMATE POSITION. THE REAL ROADS ARE NOT ROUND. POPULATION CHANGES: CENSUS BUREAU VINTAGE 2025.
For service companies the metro is three rings, and Google measures every search from where the customer is standing.
Google's description of the map pack: "Distance refers to how far each business is from the customer who's searching." Loop 610 is 38 miles around on the state's books, and the Grand Parkway is planned at 180. Katy and Baytown sit 52 straight-line miles apart, and Google will not let you bridge that with a circle: "You can't set your service area as a radius distance around your business," only "up to 20 service areas" by city or ZIP.
The rule we work to: one real page for each ring you actually dispatch to, with proof from that ring — not forty suburb pages that say the same thing with the town name swapped.
Hurricane Beryl came ashore near Matagorda before dawn on July 8, 2024 and crossed the west side of Houston that morning. The search for a tree crew, a roofer or a generator tech happened on a phone, on whatever signal was left.
A storm does two things to search at once. Demand for a short list of trades goes vertical within hours, and the conditions for opening a website collapse: no Wi-Fi, a crowded tower, a phone at twelve percent. It is not only a 2024 story. The Houston/Galveston forecast office filed post-storm reports on three named systems in the 2026 season: Arthur in June, Bertha in July, Edouard in September.
What we keep ready: a storm page for each service, written before June 1 and updated when a forecast firms up; special hours and a dated update on the Business Profile, posted from a phone; a banner switch on the site; and a page light enough to open when the tower is struggling.
TOTAL TRANSFER WEIGHT ON FIRST LOAD, MEDIAN OF REPEAT RUNS FROM ONE MACHINE. THE THREE AGENCY PAGES ARE THE HIGHEST-RANKING AGENCY PAGES ACROSS FIVE HOUSTON SEO SEARCHES THAT DAY. ACROSS ALL THIRTEEN PAGE-ONE AGENCY PAGES WE COULD MEASURE: 367 KB TO 12.4 MB, MEDIAN 2.4 MB, 34 TO 406 REQUESTS. SECONDS ARE ARITHMETIC — WEIGHT ÷ 1.6 MBPS, THE SLOW-4G SPEED LIGHTHOUSE TESTS AT — NOT A STOPWATCH.
You do not buy SEO by the tier. You buy it by what you actually have: locations that take calls, and capability lines that take purchase orders.
For scale, here is what the page-one agencies say in their own words. The national agency ranked first: "flexible packages start at $500 monthly." The Houston agency ranked second prints no price, and its form's budget menu starts at "$48,000 - $100,000" a year. The third: "a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars." A Houston B2B specialist: "All new clients begin with either a $15K retainer or a 6-month commitment." Google's own AI summary of this search, on the day we checked: "Local SEO: $300 to $2,000 per month" and "Enterprise SEO: $2,550 to $10,000+ per month." None of the thirteen prices by location or by product line, and none prints its terms.
A CAPABILITY LINE IS ONE THING YOU QUOTE SEPARATELY — HEAT-EXCHANGER RETUBING, NOT "INDUSTRIAL SERVICES." A LOCATION IS A STAFFED ADDRESS WITH ITS OWN BUSINESS PROFILE.
Asked by Houston clients.
Do we need separate pages for Katy, Sugar Land, and The Woodlands?
Only if you genuinely serve them differently. One strong service-area strategy usually beats a dozen thin suburb pages — we'll show you the query data first.
Our buyers are engineers, not Googlers. Does SEO even matter?
Engineers search harder than anyone — spec numbers, standards, failure modes. Technical content that answers those queries is the highest-converting SEO in Houston.
How long until rankings move?
Technical fixes show in weeks; competitive B2B terms take two to three quarters. We report both, monthly, from Search Console — not a black-box dashboard.
How much does Houston SEO cost?
Printed here: the Pack Program is $840 a month for the first staffed location and $260 for each additional one. The Spec Program is $1,540 a month for up to three capability lines and $310 for each additional line. Both together are $2,140, and a catalog conversion is $2,850 once. Month to month, no setup fee, first invoice after the first pages are live. For scale, on the day we checked, Google's own AI summary of this search read "Local SEO: $300 to $2,000 per month" and "Enterprise SEO: $2,550 to $10,000+ per month," and the agency ranked first says its "flexible packages start at $500 monthly."
How much does an SEO agency cost?
Nationally, Clutch's September 2026 pricing guide puts the typical monthly retainer at "$2,000 - $20,000" and the average at $3,199. Ahrefs' poll of 439 SEOs found $2,917 a month on average and $1,557 for local work. In Houston, the page-one agencies that say anything say this: "SEO pricing in Houston typically ranges from $2,000 to $10,000+ per month"; "a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars"; and, from a B2B specialist, "All new clients begin with either a $15K retainer or a 6-month commitment." None of the thirteen prices by location or by product line, which is how you actually count your business.
What is the best SEO agency in Houston?
The one whose claims you can check before you sign. Four checks. Is a price printed? Does the form demand a phone number before it tells you anything — six of the eight page-one forms we could read mark it required. Does the agency's own site pass the test it sells — the thirteen page-one agency pages we measured weigh from 367 KB to 12.4 MB, with a median of 2.4 MB and as many as 406 requests. And are the terms written down — "month-to-month" appears on three of the 34 agency pages we read, "purchase order" and "net 30" on none. For the record, this studio is in Austin, Texas: one developer, no rented Houston suite.
What is industrial SEO?
Search work for companies whose buyers are engineers, maintenance planners and procurement desks rather than the public. The searches are longer and rarer — a material, a size, a failure, a part family — the results page often has no map on it, and the sale takes months. So the unit of work is not a keyword. It is a page that answers one technical question well enough to be forwarded inside the buyer's company. The well log above is the model: symptom, spec, shortlist, background check, request.
What does an SEO company do?
On this page, things you can inspect. A written gap report before any money moves. One Business Profile per staffed location, worked weekly. Pages built down the well log for each capability line, written from your engineers' own answers. Your catalog turned from PDF into text a search engine can read. The technical work: weight, speed, internal links, structured data that matches the visible text. And a report by the 5th from Search Console, with every change listed, so you can audit the work the way we audited your competitors.
Is SEO dead now with AI?
No. The readers multiplied. BrightLocal's 2026 survey of 1,002 U.S. consumers found 97% still read reviews for local businesses, while use of "ChatGPT and other generative AI tools for local recommendations" rose from 6% to 45% in a year. For industrial sellers the change is that an assistant now reads your capability pages and repeats them — or repeats a competitor's, because yours is a PDF. On the day we checked, Google's AI summary of "houston seo" named three agencies and a price range. It draws on pages that state facts plainly, and plain facts on a fast page are the whole method here.
Is SEO still worth it in 2026?
Run it with your own numbers. The Spec Program costs $18,480 a year; if one new account is worth more than that to you, the program has to produce one. If a new service customer is worth $900, the Pack Program has to produce one a month. Where it is not worth it: a market of six buyers you already know by name, or a shop with no capacity to answer the quote requests it gets today. The gap report says so when that is the case.
You are in Austin. Does it matter that you are not in Houston?
For the map pack, the address that counts is yours: Google measures distance from the searcher to your business, not to your vendor. For industrial work there is usually no map at all. What you give up is a lunch meeting. What you get is the person who does the work, answers in writing, and would rather send a document than book a conference room. If a Houston office matters more to you than that, we are the wrong vendor, and we would rather say so now.
What happens to our search presence when a storm shuts us down?
Closing for a storm does not cost you rankings; stale information does. Before June 1 we write a storm page for each service. When a forecast firms up, we set special hours on the Business Profile, post a dated update, and switch on a banner that says what you can and cannot do. Afterward come the reopening notice, photos of real work, and review requests from the jobs you ran. The morning after Beryl, 28.7% of cell sites in the six-county disaster area were out of service, so that page has to open on a weak signal. This one weighs about a third of a megabyte.
Your numbers, your competitors', and the distance between — in writing, before you spend anything.
Send the site and what you sell. In 48 hours you get a document, not a sales call: where you stand for the searches that matter, who holds them, and what it would take to close the gap.
OF THE EIGHT PAGE-ONE AGENCY FORMS WE COULD READ, SIX MARK THE PHONE NUMBER REQUIRED AND THE OTHER TWO STILL ASK FOR IT. THIS FORM DOES NOT HAVE THE FIELD.
