// FREIGHT SYSTEMS — /logistics-software-development

Custom logistics software development, sized for the fleet you actually run.

Dispatch lives on a whiteboard. Rate cons sit in a shared inbox. PODs arrive as blurry texts, and every customer call opens with "where's my truck?" We build the one system that runs your loads end to end — dispatch board, driver app, customer tracking, settlements — priced per project, never per truck.

Six pieces of paper. One record that moves itself.

Every load produces the same trail — quote, rate con, dispatch, tracking, POD, invoice. Today that trail crosses six tools and gets retyped four times. In your system it's one record changing status.

// BUILT FOR THE 91.5%

The enterprise shops build for the other 8.5%.

The top-ranking sellers of logistics software development services say it themselves: large enterprises "are likely to get the most out of" custom logistics software. Their published quotes run $30,000–$300,000 across 3-to-9-month timelines — when they publish numbers at all.

We build for everyone that sentence waves away: the 12-truck carrier, the three-dispatcher brokerage, the family 3PL with no IT department. Truckload operating margins ran under 1% last year (ATRI) — the operator whose back office costs less per load is the one still standing when rates come back. That's a software problem, and it doesn't take $300,000 to fix.

// THE RATE CON

You commit to a number every day. So do we.

A rate con is a promise — lane, load, dollars, signed before the wheels turn. Software should buy the same way. Send the operation, and inside 24 hours you get a fixed price and a module plan in writing, before any work starts, with no obligation to sign.

The agencies ranking for these keywords publish $30,000–$300,000 — when they publish anything — and the TMS vendors won't show a price without a sales call. Here the number comes first. It starts at $9,000, it stays fixed, and everything the build produces is titled to you.

// CHECK CALLS

Asked on every first call.

01 What does custom logistics software development cost?

Single-system builds here land $9,000–$30,000, fixed, phased, and approved one module at a time. The agencies ranking for this query publish $30,000–$300,000 and "small projects often start around $40k." Your number arrives in writing within 24 hours — and unlike a subscription, it's the last time the meter runs.

02 We already pay for an ELD, load boards, maybe a TMS. What goes, what stays?

The ELD hardware and the load boards stay — we integrate with them through their APIs (Samsara, Motive, DAT, Truckstop) instead of replacing them. What goes away is the per-seat TMS layer and the per-partner EDI rent. And nothing is ripped out on day one: the new system runs alongside your current process until the numbers match, then you switch.

03 Our operation is weird. Nothing off the shelf ever fit.

Weird is the brief. Generic TMS models everything as "a load," which is exactly why it breaks on drayage (demurrage, container detention, and chassis per-diem are three different clocks), produce (pulp temps and lumper fees), auto-haul (ten VINs with ten photo trails on one trailer), or oilfield work billed by run ticket instead of BOL. Custom software models your unit of work, whatever shape it is.

04 How long before dispatch actually runs on it?

First live module in 6–10 weeks — usually the dispatch board, because that's where the pain is. The rest arrives module by module while you operate normally. The enterprise shops quote 3–5 months minimum and up to 9 or longer, all-or-nothing. You'll be dispatching in yours before their discovery phase ends.

05 Will drivers actually use it?

There's nothing to install and no password to reset at a truck stop. The driver gets a link that opens on any phone: today's stops, the docs, one big button to photograph the POD. If they can text a photo — and they already do — they're trained. Dispatch stops being a call center, and the POD stops living in someone's camera roll.

06 Who owns it — and who maintains it after you?

You own it from commit one: repo, database, and the server it runs on — a boring, mainstream stack (Go or PHP, PostgreSQL, plain HTML) hosted on your account for about $40 a month. Thirty days of post-launch fixes are in the contract; after that, keep us on retainer or hand it to any developer you hire. No license to renew, no seat count to true up, nobody to call sales about.
